Selling a Piano

When it comes to selling a piano things can get a liitle dicey. Pianos fall under musical instruments, not antique furniture. Pricing is highly subjective and regional. We can give you a rough estimate of pricing but our best advice is to look on Craigslist and Ebay for similar pianos (size, upright or grand, finish, age etc.) and see what price they are selling for. Notice that I said selling for not asking for, many people see an asking price of $xxxx.xx but we have no real idea if it sold for that. Try to get a good feel for whether it sold or not. The Piano Buyers Guide by Larry Fine has a chart that will give you a rough estimate of your pianos worth. Piano prices are very regional so you will still need to compare your local price or try to sell nationally on Ebay.

Our Advice on Selling a Piano

Educate yourself! To get a premium price for your piano it would be best to know the age of your piano, the service history and any repairs needed.

Chances are that a tuned piano will sell faster and for more money. If you have Moore's Piano Service tune your piano I can perform an inspection at no extra cost. This will let you know the age ( of most pianos) whether it can be tuned, and any repairs that are necessary for it to play correctly. This tuning and inspection will help you sound knowledgeable and will make your piano sound wonderful to prospective buyers.
