The Importance of piano care
Having your piano tuned should be more than just a tuning. Moore's Piano Service will do a full inspection at each tuning and email a Condition Report that shows pricing and gives a description of the repairs if there are any upcoming issues that will need attention in the future. Having your piano inspected will keep any needed repairs from becoming worse or causing further, more expensive damage. Please contact us if you have any more questions.
Having your piano tuned regularly is a neccesity in N.E. Indiana our frequent humidity changes. We recommend tuning yealrly for infrequent use or if the humidity in your home is very stable throughout the year. For example, if you run a humidifier in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. If you have a piano student or the humidity changes frequently in your home throughout the year we recommend having your piano tuned every six months. For example, if you use a wood or corn stove for heat during the winter months without a humidifier your humidity levels can drop into the single digits. The recommended humidity level for a piano is 42%rh. Piano tuning will change drastically throughout the year with the changes in humidity and it may not always sound out of tune.
Having your piano cleaned every 5-7 or if you just purchased it used is a good idea for health reasons as well as cosmetic reasons. Pet hair and dander as well as dust collects under the keys and in the bottom on an upright piano and on the soundboard on a grand piano.
We also offer regulation this is a repair that involves adjusting all of the moving parts to maximise their ability. Over time all of the felt and wood crushes down some from playing, making the keys heavier to press and in some instances making the piano not play correctly (sometimes notes won't play at all).
